Character

Jan 14, 2025

Our spouse is often the person who sees our whole character, the things we think about and dream, the things that define us, and the things we would like to hide. Healthy marriages refine each other's character. The Proverbs provide a piercing insight into how to understand our character and how to allow God to shape it. In the following discussion questions, ask your spouse to help you to see both strengths and potential blind spots in character so that you can continue to grow as a Believer and a spouse.

  1. Do any of the Proverbs in the Devotional speak to character strengths of your spouse? Do any speak of blind spots for your spouse?

  2. How as a couple can you grow in character and wisdom together?

  3. Share with one another the ways God has shaped your character. Was it though suffering? Was it through small victories? What might your spouse not know about how God has worked to bring you to be the person you are today?
